The privacy of our visitors and members is of utmost concern to the National Association for the Self-Employed. We provide the following privacy statement so you will understand our information gathering and dissemination practices for our Web site.

The Information We Collect

The NASE will not ask for personal information via e-mail, including but not limited to Social Security number, e-mail or Web site passwords or credit card and/ or payment information. For each visitor (including members) to our site, we collect the following information:

  • Your IP address, to help diagnose problems with our servers and to administer our Web site.
  • Non-user-specific information on which pages on our Web site users access or visit. 
  • Information volunteered by the user, such as survey information and/or site registrations.

For each member that has registered with and logged on to our site, we collect the following information:

  • User-specific information on some pages members access or visit.
  • Member number, name, ZIP code, e-mail address, login name, password, e-mail "from name", welcome name for our home page and, if provided, alternate e-mail address, billing address, and shipping address.

 

How We Use the Information
The information we collect will be used to:

  • Improve the content of our Web site
  • Monitor traffic-levels 
  • Customize the content and/or layout of our page for each individually logged-on member 
  • Notify members about updates to our Web site 
  • Contact members for NASE marketing purposes
  • Provide updates and other information we think may be of interest to you

 

We do not currently sell any e-mail addresses to any third party. Whenever a vendor promotes their services to our members we first approve the promotion and maintain the right to review the method of distribution and parties involved in the distribution.

Cookies
When you log in as a member we create a new cookie to record session information to allow you to view member area Web pages, use our online tools, and order member benefits on our site. Our cookies also protect you against others accidentally accessing your account contents by requiring you to re-enter your log in after a certain period of time has elapsed.

Collection of Information by Third-Party Sites or Ad Networks

 

Third-Party Sites
We partner with other third parties to provide specific services to our members (see a list of some of our partners on http://www.nase.org/Membership/MembersBenefits.aspx). When a member chooses to take advantage of a service he/she makes direct contact with the third party. These companies have their own privacy and data collection practices and are not covered by this privacy statement.

From time to time this site may contain links to other Web sites. Be aware that the NASE has no control over and is not responsible for the privacy policy of any other sites,even if a link appears on our Web site.

Ad Networks
We do not partner with or have special relationships with any ad server companies.

How You Can Access or Correct Information
Members have access to and can edit the following member account information:

  • Password
  • From name for member e-mail 
  • Home page name 
  • Billing address for Web orders 
  • Shipping address for Web orders 
  • Alternate e-mail address

Members can also view, but not edit, the following member account information:

  • Login name
  • Member e-mail address
  • Account creation date 
  • Last login date 
  • Last order date 
  • Last e-mail check date 
  • Last NASE TaxTalk question/answer dates 
  • Previous NASE TaxTalk questions 
  • Last NASE ShopTalk question/answer date 
  • Previous NASE ShopTalk questions.

Members can access this information by logging-in at: Members Page and clicking through to the "My Profile" page.

Security of Your Personal Information
We always use industry-standard encryption technologies when transferring and receiving consumer data exchanged with our site. When we transfer and receive certain types of sensitive information we redirect visitors to a secure server. We have appropriate security measures in place in our physical facilities to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of information that we have collected from you at our site.

Changes to This Statement
From time to time, we may use customer information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy notice. If our information practices change at some time in the future we will post the policy changes to our Web site to notify you of these changes. If you are concerned about how your information is used, you should check back at our Web site periodically.
