With the Small Business Community Struggling Amid the COVID Crisis, Now is the Time to Salute & Support These Entrepreneurs

WASHINGTON, D.C. – With this Saturday designated as Small Business Saturday – November 28, 2020, the National Association for the Self-Employed, the nation's leading advocate and resource for the self-employed and micro-businesses, today called on all Americans to shop local and show their support for America’s small businesses.

The following statement is byKeith Hall, president and CEO of NASE:

“We encourage every American to show their support for the small business community this Small Business Saturday, and salute the millions of small businesses, solo entrepreneurs and gig-economy workers for persevering this year.  Despite challenging odds, many have evolved, changed and adapted to the new normal. Now – more than ever – is the time when we all can show up along Main Street.

“Our community needs immediate relief from the coronavirus pandemic. America’s small businesses struggle to keep their doors open and customers served. From another critical loan program to enhanced loan forgiveness for those that have been hardest hit, we continue to advocate for each and every small business.

“We hope that both sides of the aisle return to the bargaining table and work together to support this important community.”

NASE has developed a COVID-19 Resource Page for the small business community offering supportive resources and information. Earlier this year, NASE – along with other major small business groups and their allies – called on Congress to pass a standalone small business relief package that will assist the most fragile small businesses and their employees ranging from an additional loan program to expedited loan forgiveness. The letter sent to Congress includes a package of key small business priorities.
