Nation’s Leading Self-Employed and Micro-Business Advocate Has
Championed Greater HRA Flexibility for Small Businesses
DALLAS, TX – This afternoon at 3:30
pm (ET), Katie Vlietstra, Vice President for Government Relations and Public
Affairs for the National Association
for the Self-Employed (NASE) , the nation’s leading advocate
and resource for the self-employed and micro-businesses, has been invited to
attend a White House Rose Garden ceremony announcing an expansion of Health
Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs) granting greater flexibility and allowing
employers to assist employees in using HRA’s to pay for health insurance
coverage.
NASE has been a major supporter of today’s HRA expansion and has advocated on
the issue for several years since the passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA)
and subsequent guidance in 2013 restricting HRA use by small
employers.
“Health Reimbursement Arrangements are a critically important
tool for small businesses and the self-employed to obtain access to affordable
health care coverage,” said Katie Vlietstra, NASE’s Vice
President for Government Relations and Public Affairs. “Since
many self-employed and micro-businesses obtain health care in the individual
market, HRAs can oftentimes make the difference in an entrepreneurs ability to
purchase health insurance coverage.”
