Tax Expert and Certified Public Accountant Advises “Amid Trade Wars, Tariff Talk, IRS Changes and Ongoing Tax Reform Debate, Educate Yourself Now to Save Time and Money on Your Tax Return”

DALLAS, TX – With just two weeks remaining until the April 15th tax filing deadline, the National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), the nation's leading advocate and resource for the self-employed and micro-businesses, is encouraging all tax filers—especially self-employed individuals and small business owners—to educate themselves on this year’s tax code updates and to file as soon as possible. NASE highlights key policy changes and strategies to help filers maximize their returns while emphasizing the importance of “getting organized, reviewing updates to the tax code, and submitting now.”

There are specific strategies and updates to the tax code that will help filers submit beneficial tax returns this year –not only for existing small business owners, but the millions of new entrepreneurs filing a return for the very first time. Despite ongoing discussions in Washington about tariffs, trade wars, and IRS challenges – don’t be distracted –now is the time to focus on filing your tax return,” said Keith Hall, president and CEO of the National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), the nation's leading advocate and resource for the self-employed and micro-businesses. “Submitting your return electronically through the IRS online portal or with a tax professional ensures accuracy and speeds up the process. The earlier you file, the sooner you can check it off your list and get your return processed.”

Hall was recently featured in a CBS News MoneyWatch story offering his insights into the current year’s tax filing process.  The self-employed entrepreneurs file at the individual rate like most Americans, and there are unique characteristics of the small business community that allow for talking advantage of key, beneficial tax policies each year. From business use of your vehicle to retirement contributions to the home office standard deduction to even hiring your kid – all will help you save time and money while growing small businesses.

“The IRS has once again expanded income tax brackets for this year’s tax season—and will do so again next year—offering significant benefits to small business owners. These changes can help entrepreneurs save money, invest in their businesses, and support growth. Whether it’s purchasing new office equipment, hiring an additional employee, or setting aside funds for business expenses---or even hiring your kid, these tax updates provide critical financial flexibility. Remember, you are not alone and there are resources out there for help, including NASE.org, IRS.gov and SBA.gov, where information and assistance is readily available,” concluded Hall.
